2024 Travel Bucket List

Every year, I curate a travel bucket list, a mood board of adventures to inspire the upcoming year’s travels. Expedia Group’s Unpack ’24 report aligns perfectly with my travel vision, highlighting trends like Tour Tourism, Dry Tripping, and Go-ccasions. These bucket list items are largely destination-agnostic, designed to spark your wanderlust and encourage you to create your own personalized adventures.

This year’s travel aspirations range from attending global concerts and exploring film locations to renting vacation homes and embarking on rejuvenating wellness trips.

Tour Tourism

The cultural impact of music tours like Taylor Swift’s Eras and Beyoncé’s Renaissance in 2023 was undeniable, fueling travel and tourism. Expedia predicts this Tour Tourism trend will continue to flourish in 2024. Cultural and music festivals have always been integral to my international travels, from Tomorrowland in Belgium to Ultra Japan in Tokyo.

If a major concert or cultural event is on your bucket list, make 2024 the year to experience it!

Take a Solo Trip

Embarking on a solo trip is a transformative experience. It empowers you to explore a destination at your own pace and discover hidden gems along the way. As a solo female traveler, I’ve gained invaluable self-discovery and global perspectives through independent exploration. If international solo travel feels daunting, start small with a local adventure.

Travel to a Destination from a Movie or TV Show

For film and television enthusiasts, consider visiting the filming locations of your favorite productions. From the Harry Potter sets in England to the Lord of the Rings landscapes in New Zealand, and the Game of Thrones locations spanning Europe, these destinations offer immersive experiences.

Use Points to Fly for Free

Leveraging credit card points for free flights is a game-changer. From Emirates First Class to economy and business class flights worldwide, I’ve redeemed points for incredible travel experiences. This isn’t about bragging, but rather a call to action. If you’re not using travel reward credit cards, now is the time to start.

Visit a National Park

North America boasts a wealth of breathtaking national parks, from Rocky Mountain and Banff to Yellowstone. These natural wonders offer a much-needed escape from the everyday hustle. Whether you’re a hiker, wildlife enthusiast, or simply appreciate nature’s beauty, there’s a national park waiting to be explored.

Rent a Vacation Home

Vacation rentals provide the space and comfort of a home away from home, especially when traveling with family or pets. From an 18th-century farmhouse in Tuscany to a modern beachfront unit in Malibu, vacation rentals offer a personalized and flexible travel experience.

Take a Girls’ Trip

A girls’ trip is an ideal way to strengthen bonds and recharge. For seven years, I’ve led all-female tours to incredible destinations like South Africa, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and the Galapagos Islands. Many guests join solo and leave with lifelong travel companions.

Take a Wellness Trip

Prioritize your well-being with a wellness trip. From yoga retreats and spa vacations to fitness and adventure trips, there are countless ways to rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit. Destinations like Bali, Costa Rica, and Tulum offer diverse wellness experiences.

Go Scuba Diving

Explore the underwater world through scuba diving. Getting certified opened up a new realm of adventure for me. From vibrant coral reefs to fascinating marine life, scuba diving offers a unique perspective on our planet.

Visit a Wonder of the World

Explore the world’s most iconic landmarks and natural wonders, designated by UNESCO. From the classic Seven Wonders to the New Seven Wonders, these sites showcase human ingenuity and offer awe-inspiring experiences.

Go on an African Safari

An African safari is a bucket-list essential. From Gondwana Private Game Reserve in South Africa to the wilds of Botswana and Kenya, a safari offers unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Take a Go-ccasion

Embrace the “Go-ccasion” trend and celebrate any occasion with a trip. From puppymoons and first-date anniversaries to work promotion getaways, any reason is a good reason to travel and create lasting memories.
